  Sec. 519 Study
LIUNA NGDC to Conduct Comprehensive Survey of National Guard Technicians
by Ben Banchs

New Orleans, LA (July 19, 2012) - The LIUNA National Guard District Council will be launching a comprehensive web-based survey of the National Guard Technician workforce. The survey will be available online starting August 1, 2012, and will run for 30 days. Our goal is to allow as many current or former National Guard Dual and Non-Dual Status Technicians nationwide an opportunity to provide feedback on this very unique program.

The data will be used to provide Congress with an independent and unbiased source of information, and will serve to provide context to the Section 519 Report which DoD is required to complete by December of this year.

As we previously reported, the Section 519 requirements are very specific, with several different outcomes possible. Based on the findings of this report all technicians could be converted to either Title 5, Active Duty, AGR, or even State employees. There's also the possibility that everything stays the way it is, but there's no mistaking the fact that this is the first time since 1968 that the technician program is being seriously considered for restructuring.

If you are a current or former National Guard Dual-Status or Non-Dual Status Technician we highly encourage you to participate in this survey.

If you would like to receive an email notifying you when the survey comes on-line please send your contact info to the following email address:
